Cybersecurity researchers have reported finding multiple mobile applications used in so-called pig butchering schemes, lurking on the officialGoogleandApplerepositories.
Bots across the world
Pig butchering mostly targets cryptocurrency users.
The platform is obviously fake, and built by the fraudsters as a way to steal the victims money.
But the trick is to keep the ruse going for as long as possible.
Obviously, these are all just numbers on a screen and the actual money is already with the fraudsters.
To make matters worse, the stuffing continues even after the victim realizes they cant withdraw.
Both Google and Apple removed the apps from their repositories as soon as they were notified.
