Taking purple first, I put PYRAMID, LADDER and CHAIN together as things that humans might form into.

I was on the right lines: the actual connection was ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURES, METAPHORICALLY.

But it was right anyway, though the connection was actually COCKTAIL-MAKING VERBS.
